The Oil Pan Drain Plug Protection/Repair Kit is designed to prevent thread wear in the 300SL aluminum oil pan and to restore damaged drain plug threads in some cases.

In the original configuration, the M26x1.5 drain plug is threaded directly into the aluminum casting of the oil pan. Over time, repeated removal and installation can degrade these threads. This kit provides a durable solution by utilizing an adapter that converts the M26x1.5 thread to M18x1.5, allowing the use of a standard M18x1.5 drain plug.

The included O-ring ensures a reliable seal between the adapter and oil pan, while the replacement M18x1.5 drain plug provides secure and repeatable serviceability.

Installation Notes:

• Inspect existing M26x1.5 threads to ensure they are capable of retaining the adapter securely.

• Apply a suitable thread-locking compound (e.g., Loctite) to the external threads of the adapter if additional retention is desired.
