In the channel of the slide is a small manufacturing raised circular protrusion, probably an artifact of the mold process.  Because the fit is so tight and I was installing the slide with the glass inside the door, this tiny raised area was preventing me from sliding the slide into position on the glass.  Once I figured out what was happening, I simply drilled out the raised surface so the part could slide onto the glass without interference.
